Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee will Vote to Name
a Delegate for State Legislative District 16
Vote at May 11 Meeting. The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee will meet and vote at 7:30 PM, Tuesday, May 11, 2010, to submit a name to the Governor for a Delegate for Legislative District 16. The Governor will appoint the Delegate after receipt of the submission. The vacancy is the result of the resignation of Delegate Bill Bronrott, effective April 26, 2010. Delegate Bronrott has accepted the position of Deputy Administrator at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (U.S. Department of Transportation) in the Obama Administration.
The Procedure. When a Montgomery County Democratic seat in the Maryland General Assembly becomes vacant, the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee must vote for an individual from that State Legislative District and submit the name to the Governor within 30 days of the vacancy.
Send Resume and Cover Letter. A candidate for the Delegate position must be a registered Democrat residing in District 16. District 16 encompasses Bethesda, Cabin John, Glen Echo and parts of Chevy Chase, North Bethesda, Potomac and West Bethesda. Candidates should submit an application consisting of a resume and cover letter by 5:00 PM, Monday, May 10, 2010, to the Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee’s headquarters, 3720 Farragut Ave., Third floor, Kensington, MD 20895, MontgomeryDems@msn.com, Fax 301-946-1002. Note: The Committee will give preference to select a person who has publicly agreed to not run as a candidate for any public office in the upcoming primary election.
Candidates are Encouraged to Apply Early. Candidates are encouraged to notify the MCDCC that they intend to run as soon as possible, before formal submission of the application. Candidates are expected to:
1) Attend the May 11 meeting,
2) Address the Committee and
3) Participate in a question-and-answer period and the vote.
