Bio

The current Sheriff, Raymond M. Kight, is the seventy-third elected Sheriff to serve the County. Sheriff Kight was elected Sheriff in 1986,1990, 1994, and 1998. The Sheriff is a graduate of the University of Baltimore Law School receiving a Juris Doctor Degree in 1970. Sheriff Kight served with the Montgomery County Police from 1962 to 1966. Thereafter, he joined the Sheriffs Office, where he served as a Deputy Sheriff, Lieutenant and Chief Deputy before being elected Sheriff in 1986.  Sheriff Kight served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1961 while stationed in Heidelberg, Germany.
